1. Open the app. It loads empty, with a built-in sample you can open from File.
2. Go to Songs and add your songs. Type a title in the add row, or paste a whole list of titles at once, then fill in each song's duration, key, BPM and energy right in the table.
3. Go to Sets, add song slots, and arrange them with the arrows or by dragging.
4. Open Perform for the big-type stage view. Use A+/A−, Line and Cols to tune readability.

Yes, with Pro. Every song with chords gets a small stepper in the stage view (and next to Key on the Songs tab) that shifts it up or down a semitone at a time, so you can drop a song into your singer's range on the night. It is display only: your typed lyrics and chords are never rewritten, so setting it back to 0 restores the original. You can force sharps or flats in Perform settings, or let the resulting key decide. The setting travels into the songbook file you save, and the performer can still nudge it on stage.

After buying on the pricing page you receive a license key. In the app, tap Go Pro in the top bar, paste the key and click Activate. Because your data stays in your browser, activate it on each device you use. Your key works on all of them.

In the app, tap the Pro chip in the top bar and click Turn off Pro on this browser. That frees the activation so you can use it on another device; your license key is unchanged and can be re-activated anytime. Your songs and setlists are not affected.

The Songs tab is a table: every song is a row, and duration, key, BPM and energy are columns you edit in place. Press Enter to move down a column, or Tab to move across, so you can fill one field for your whole repertoire in a single pass. Use the Filters to show only songs still missing a value. To add songs, type a title in the add row and press Enter, or click Paste list and paste one title per line (or a whole spreadsheet with a header row). On a phone, tap a song to open its full editor and use Prev / Next to move between songs. The more you fill in, the sharper the Flow tools get.

Nothing is applied until you decide. Each unfamiliar title gets a row where you can match it to a song you already have (close spellings are matched for you), create it as a new song, or skip the line, with Create all / Skip all for a genuinely new list. If a set's song is missing its flow data, a small ⚠ chip on the slot opens a quick popover to fill it in, and it saves to the song so every set that uses it updates at once.

• Songbook: your whole file. It holds your song library and all your setlists, and it is what you save, open and back up.
• Setlist: a plan for one show or occasion, like "The Beatles @ Ed Sullivan Show". A setlist contains one or more sets.
• Set: one continuous block of the show (Set 1, Set 2, an encore). A set is an ordered list of song slots.
• Song slot: one spot in a set. Usually it holds a single song, but it can hold A/B alternatives (pick one on the night) or a medley (several songs played as one), plus talk cues and breaks.
• Song: one song in your library (title, lyrics and chords, key, BPM, energy, tags). A song lives in the library once and can be used in any setlist.

File → Start new songbook clears the editor and starts empty. Save your current songbook first (in the Open & save panel) if you want to keep it.

Song notes live on the song and are always true for it, wherever you play it: capo 2, piano intro, starts on a G. You set them once, on the Songs page.

Setlist notes belong to a song where it sits in a particular set, so they are show or arrangement specific: invite a guest up, acoustic version tonight, dedicate this one. You add them on the Setlists page, on that song's slot, and they only show there.

Type chords inline in the lyrics box, in square brackets, right before the word they fall on. They stack neatly above the lyrics in the stage view. For example:

Section labels in brackets on their own line, like [Chorus] or [Solo], become headings rather than chords. Turn chords on or off any time with the Chords button in Perform.

In Sets → Paste a setlist you can type or paste one slot per line and SetlistFlow builds the set for you:

• Wildfire: a normal song slot.
• Matchstick / River and Rust: A/B alternatives (play one or the other).
• Coffee and Smoke + The Long Way: a medley.
• ?Last Call: an optional song (leading question mark).
• >Tune down, tell the festival story: a talk cue (leading >).
• [Encore]: starts an encore section.
• Open Road (capo 2): text in parentheses becomes a setlist note.

Anything missing or ambiguous is reported rather than applied, so nothing breaks.

When it is handy:

• Import a list you already have. Paste a set from your notes, an email, a phone list or another app, one song per line, and it becomes a real set in seconds.
• Move or copy a batch of songs between sets or setlists. The box starts filled with the current set as text, so you can copy that text, switch to another set or setlist, and paste it in to duplicate or move a whole run of songs at once, much faster than re-adding them by hand.
• Rework quickly. Edit the pasted text (reorder lines, add /, +, ?, >, [Encore]) and re-apply to reshape the set in one go.

On the free plan, lines that use Pro-only features (A/B, medleys, encores, optional songs, breaks and cues) are simplified to plain songs when you apply; unlock Pro to keep them.

The smart setlist builder (on the Flow page) creates a set from scratch out of your whole song bank. Pick a recipe (the energy shape you want), a target length or number of songs, and whether you want an encore (or leave it on Auto), and it chooses the songs, orders them to the recipe's shape, spaces in talk cues, and shapes the encore. Try fresh variations on request; it builds into a new setlist (or fills the current one if it's empty), so nothing you have is overwritten. It is a Pro feature and runs on the BPM, energy and song tags you set on the Songs tab, so the more of those you fill in, the better it gets.

The Flow page is where the Flow tools live: build, order, graph and read your set, all in one place, with a length total (talk time included). FlowGraph draws your set's energy and tempo so you can spot a flat patch or a clumsy jump. FlowAnalyzer gives a friendly read on the flow (repeated keys, big tempo jumps, cover balance, a weak ending) alongside what already works. FlowOptimizer reshapes the set with a recipe (Balanced arc, Energy build, Double peak, Soft landing and more), and FlowBuilder can draft a whole set from your song bank. Fill in duration, BPM, energy and song tags to get the most from them.

It follows live-setlisting best practices to shape your set's energy, and each recipe shapes it a bit differently. BPM and energy make it sharper, but it still works from your tags and current order without them.

On the transition slot, set Transition attached to the previous or next song. It then travels with that song when FlowOptimizer moves it, even into the encore. Breaks stay put, and loose cues are re-spaced (any that don't fit wait in a Removed cues section).

On each song you can set tags that the Flow tools understand: Opener, Closer, Encore, Cover, Crowd favorite and Deep cut. These drive the Flow tools, so they live separately from your free-form categories, which are just for grouping songs the way you like in the stage view.

Tag it Archived on the Songs tab. Archived songs are skipped by the smart setlist builder and greyed out in your lists, while staying in any set you have already placed them in. Use it for songs you have retired but do not want to delete.

Any language. Type in English, German, Bengali or even right-to-left scripts such as Arabic and Hebrew. Direction is detected automatically (and you can override it per song), and you can mix scripts in the same songbook.

Flow totals your set from each song's duration, plus a short gap between songs for talk and tuning. Two defaults fill in the gaps:

• Default song length stands in for any song that has no duration set (starts at 3:30).
• Between-song gap is the time added between songs (starts at 30 seconds).

Change both on the Setlists tab, in the collapsed Setlist configuration panel under the setlist details. They are saved with your songbook, so they apply to every setlist in it. Filling in real durations on the Songs tab always takes priority over the default.

• Fill in durations so Flow can total your set accurately; songs without one are estimated using your default song length (3:30 to start, adjustable in Setlist configuration).
• Set song tags (Opener, Closer, Encore, Cover, Crowd favorite, Deep cut) on your go-to songs so FlowOptimizer and FlowBuilder know where each one belongs.
• Use categories (ballad, up-tempo, and so on) to group songs for yourself in the stage view. Edit the list in Settings; categories no longer affect the Flow tools, so you can name them anything.
• Save often to your own file; the Unsaved chip in the top bar reminds you when there are changes to back up.

In Perform, open the Find tab and start typing. Your whole repertoire filters as you type, and tapping a result (or pressing Enter on the first match) jumps straight to that song. It is built for big song banks and taking requests mid-gig, so cover and wedding bands can pull up any tune in seconds.

For a request by feel rather than by name, the Groups tab (next to Find) browses your songs by your own categories, by the setlist role you gave each song (opener, closer, encore, cover, crowd favorite, biggest hit, deep cut), or by energy, tempo or length. The energy, tempo and length groups (slow, moderate, fast and so on) are built automatically from each song's BPM, energy and duration, so "something slow" or "an upbeat one" pulls up a shortlist with no extra tagging.

Your work is autosaved in this browser, but your real backup is one file you keep yourself.

• File → Save songbook downloads a single file. It is your editable backup and the standalone performer app in one.
• File → Open songbook loads a saved file back in to keep editing.
• Keep that file in your own cloud drive or backups. It opens straight into the stage view on a phone or tablet, offline.

Your songbook is one file you save and keep (File → Save songbook). Store it in a cloud folder so it is backed up and opens on any device. SetlistFlow also autosaves in this browser as a safety net, but that copy lives only here, so save to your file to be safe. Nothing is uploaded; no account.

Yes. In Perform, tap the clock to switch it to a stopwatch, then use the Play/Pause and Reset buttons beside it. Tap the clock again for the time of day; the stopwatch keeps its time.

File → Print / save PDF opens a clean, lyrics-free setlist for the browser print dialog. Print it or save as PDF.
